Mo tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role

The serviceperson’s team are committed to the continual supply of quality water and efficient drainage networks, with minimal interruptions to communities. This can include after-hours service for emergency repairs. With responsibilities including inspections, maintenance of our assets and providing regular and timely reporting on completion of works and condition of assets. You’ll be expected to escalate any issues or deficiencies in a timely manner.

Duties may include;

  • Installation and repair of water and drainage connections on all size mains
  • Flush and charge water mains
  • Ensure wastewater and stormwater piped networks are free flowing.
  • Clearing blockages and sewage problems, minimise leaking infrastructure, installing connections and completing network repairs as required.
  • Working with various teams and contractors to achieve positive outcomes

 

This role requires someone with working knowledge of water supply networks and drainage systems. It is preferrable that you have a NZ Certificate in Infrastructure Works, L3 or L4, or a willingness to gain this certificate.

 

This is a fixed-time role of 40 hours per week for 6 months, based at our Woodmor Road, Blenheim depot.

This role requires someone with:

  • Appropriate physical fitness required to cope with heavy manual work with a can-do attitude.
  • An ability to read and produce engineering plans/sketches of service installations.
  • A Current, clean class 1 licence is a must, with a class 2 an added benefit.
  • An understanding and commitment to health and safety in the workplace
  • The flexibility to work on an on-call roster that includes shift work and standby.

 

If you enjoy working outdoors, have a positive attitude, can demonstrate excellent planning and prioritising skills, with good initiative while being a strong team player, then this may be the role for you.
