We're looking for an experienced Senior Services Technician – Drainage to help keep Marlborough's essential water infrastructure flowing. From maintaining critical stormwater and wastewater networks to leading installation projects and responding during emergency events, this is a hands-on role across the region.

Your work plays a key part in delivering reliable water systems and infrastructure that communities rely on every day. This role is all about supporting the team on the ground-helping install essential drainage infrastructure and keeping projects moving safely and efficiently.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Installing, repairing, renewing, and replacing stormwater, wastewater and drainage networks
• Leading the installation of stormwater infrastructure and service connections
• Operating and maintain plant and drainage equipment
• Diagnosing and rectifying drainage issues
• Assisting with as-built drawings and recording site variations as required
• Participating in an emergency callout roster and respond to critical events when needed
• Ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to industry best practice standards with a strong awareness of health and safety practices on site

Ko ngā wheako ōu | About you

You will be experienced in providing senior-level technical advice to support informed decision‑making. You'll be a skilled drainage professional who can work independently, solve problems on the go, and take pride in delivering quality outcomes. While being physically fit and able to carry out manual labour in all weather conditions.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• Proven civil drainage experience or similar hands-on outdoor work is an advantage
• The ability to lead drainage installation and repair works without supervision
• Experience with water infrastructure works
• Strong plan-reading and work-planning skills
• A genuine commitment to health and safety
• NZ Class 1 & 2 Driver Licences
• WTR endorsement
• NZ Certificate in Drain laying (Level 4) or equivalent
• Temporary Traffic Management qualification

You will be reliable, punctual, and able to work well within a team while showing a willingness to learn and take direction on the job
