What personal information does Council collect?
Council needs to collect personal information for its recruitment process. This information includes, but is not limited to:

  • Your name
  • Address
  • Contact Details
  • Resume
  • Education background
  • Employment History
  • Referees
  • Results of Police Checks
  • Medical questionnaires

How we collect personal information
Council collects your personal information through the online application form or at any other stage during the recruitment process.

Why we collect your personal information

Council collects personal information for the purpose of processing your application for employment or identifying other employment opportunities for you.

If you choose not to provide the information requested, Council will be unable to send you information, fully process your application or properly consider you for employment.

What we will use your information for
Your personal information will be used to process your application, consider you for employment or update you on employment opportunities.
If your application is successful, Council will retain your information as part of your employment records. If your application is unsuccessful, Council may retain your information on file and may contact you if a suitable employment opportunity arises later or if there are other positions available that may be of interest to you.

However, if you do not wish for your information to be retained, please contact human.resources@marlborough.govt.nz.

Storage, access, and correction of your personal information

Council uses the Australian based ELMO e-recruitment software for its recruitment processes. That means all your personal information is stored in Australia. However, only Council employees have access to your personal information.

You have the right to access and correction your personal information Council holds about you.  in accordance with the Privacy Act. Please note that you can also access or correct your personal information through your candidate profile at any time.

Who your personal information may be shared with

Council may share your personal information with your referees, government agencies, or other recruitment agencies in order to confirm or verify the information you provided to us. We might use external organisations to perform those services on Council’s behalf during the recruitment process.
