Mo tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role

As an Infrastructural Projects Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in planning, designing and managing new water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure installations for consented developments. You will lead a team working closely with Councils Resource Management team and Councils Projects & Development team to ensure the successful installation of Council infrastructure to a high standard.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leadership: Lead and develop a collaborative, high-performing engineering team.
  • Technical: Provision of engineering expertise to solve complex technical issues, ensuring that development servicing requirements are met.
  • Development: Liaising with Developers, Engineering Consultants and other Departments within Council to smooth the way for the installation of core services and services connections.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and implement mitigation to ensure risk-adverse services delivery.
  • Projects: Planning and implementation of improvements to water, wastewater and stormwater systems. Manage the processes from investigation and design to a completed product in accordance with Councils Code of Practice.
  • Health and Safety: Promotion of health, safety, wellbeing, and inclusion across the team.

Ko ngā wheako ōu | About you

 This role requires someone with:

  • A Tertiary Qualification: Can include BE (Civil), NZCE (Civil) or NZ Diploma in Engineering
  • Strong Engineering Background: A minimum 8 years of civil engineering experience with three waters and subdivision development.
  • Technical Expertise: The ability to write conditions of consent, write contract documents and design services infrastructure unsupervised.
  • Staff Management: Experience with organisational and leadership skills.
  • Project Management Skills: Experience in managing project timelines, budgets, and resources efficiently.
  • Cost Control Experience: Demonstrated ability to manage costs and track project finances accurately.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical skills to identify issues early and implement practical solutions.
