Mo tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role
We are seeking someone who not only has a passion for libraries but is also energized by people, assisting in providing the effective delivery of our Collections work programme for our local community.
In this role you will report to the Collections Librarian in managing our library collections and working closely with the Cataloguer to maintain and develop the Kotui catalogue.
You will also:
- Be involved in evaluating and selecting new materials across all formats
- Respond to customer enquiries and requests
- Monitor usage statistics to inform purchasing decisions
- Identifying opportunities for collection enhancement
- Contribute in collaboration to policy development, process improvement, and reporting
This is a permanent part-time position of 20 hours per week, working Monday – Friday (ideally 9am - 1pm) and one in five weekends.

As the Collections Support Librarian, you will display a high level of flexibility, excellent customer service skills, and work well as part of a team. You will be able to utilise your recognised library qualification (level 5 or higher), be confident with technology and enjoy a busy environment. You’ll engage with the community, build relationships and assist with everything from issuing & returning books to collection collaborations, and timely cataloguing.
You’ll need to show us that you can:

- Demonstrate collection experience.
- Show an understanding of library operations
- Establish excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills
