Mo tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role

We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join the planning & development team. This role offers a stimulating opportunity to become part of a team, where you will oversee the technical aspects of projects for upgrades and renewals to Council’s water and sewerage infrastructure, including pump stations, pipelines and treatment plants projects. Ensuring they are delivered on schedule, within budget, and meet the highest quality and safety standards.

 

What you'll be doing

  • Providing technical and operational support to ensure smooth delivery
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop project plans and schedules
  • Interpreting and implementing technical drawings and specifications
  • Monitoring project costs, quality, safety, and progress
  • Ensuring projects adhere to all relevant budgets, standards and regulations
  • Consultations with affected landowners and public stakeholders
  • Supporting the design and development of new solutions
  • Continuous improvement of project management processes and procedures

 

You will take ownership of project delivery from planning through to completion, working closely with site teams, subcontractors, consultants and clients.

Ko ngā wheako ōu | About you

 This role requires someone with:

  • A relevant qualification such as a BE, National Diploma in Engineering, NZCE.
  • 5+ years’ experience in NZ civil infrastructure, preferably in the areas of drinking water and waste water
  • A history of delivering projects to meet time, quality, and safety; as well as customer expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate and relate to people at all levels
  • Contract management, budget preparation and financial management skills.
  • Experience in NZS3910 contract monitoring and administration  
  • Strong communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent IT skills and Knowledge of relevant software 
  • Full Class 1 NZ Driver’s License

 

In addition, you should have excellent relationship development and networking skills; be a strong communicator, a self-starter, and be able to work effectively under pressure.
